Draw old farm buildings with a friend

Hannah Wilson

I'd like a friend to join me for a short drawing session from a safe permitted viewpoint, with chairs and tea. We can share memories without entering unsafe buildings. One sketch each would be enough; the roof need not improve just because I draw it kindly.

Why draw the old farm buildings rather than photograph them?

Drawing makes me look longer. I once thought that automatically made it better; it just makes it different. We should still ask where needed and stay out of unsafe places. The sketchbook grants no special access.

Could someone join for only the first part? I would not want to disrupt the plan by leaving early. One thing I should say upfront: I work some weekends.

I hear the reservation. I am not asking you to commit just by replying. I want to keep “Draw old farm buildings with a friend” manageable for the people involved. I would plan a natural stopping point and say clearly which parts depend on everybody staying. Leaving should not become a personal explanation.

I would also like to learn to organise a recording session without losing files. For me, I work some weekends. I work as a museum assistant, and I work some weekends. The help I would welcome is a welcoming local recommendation. I am trying to leave enough room for the ordinary parts of the week, so I would rather compare one modest attempt than agree to a bigger commitment before I know it fits. That is how I see “Draw old farm buildings with a friend”.

My own aim is to learn to organise a recording session without losing files. Which part of your plan could we compare without assuming they are the same activity?

I would keep “Draw old farm buildings with a friend” as one small invitation. A different version of a related wish could teach us something without either of us copying the other's whole plan.

Hannah Wilson, keep the small version.

On “Draw old farm buildings with a friend”, that seems a sensible way to continue. We can compare actual attempts later without turning this conversation into a promise that either of us has already finished.
