Restore a model ship with a friend

Thomas Reed

I'd like a friend to join me for a couple of quiet afternoons restoring a wooden model ship. We can agree a small materials budget and stop when we have had enough. It would be good to have some time together that isn't fitted between sailings.

Would you keep restoring the model ship if it became expensive?

I would stop and compare the options. Cleaning and assessing it together may be enough for the first visit. What can we do with the materials already available?

I would be up for comparing attempts, even if joining in person is not practical. Would that help? I cannot ignore the fact that I need plans with a clear start and finish.

I can leave that question open until the practical details are clearer. I want to keep “Restore a model ship with a friend” manageable for the people involved. Comparing a small attempt could work without pretending we are in the same place. We can agree what to share and leave private details out.

On “Restore a model ship with a friend”, I would also like to plan a two-person meetup with an agreed finish time. For me, I need plans with a clear start and finish.

My own aim is to plan a two-person meetup with an agreed finish time. Which part of your plan could we compare without assuming they are the same activity?

I do not think “Restore a model ship with a friend” needs to grow before it is worth trying. I would welcome a small practical suggestion and keep the extra possibilities for later.

I am still not completely convinced, but I would read a follow-up after you try it. I would also like to plan a two-person meetup with an agreed finish time.

That is fair. I would rather return with an honest account of an attempt than ask you to be enthusiastic in advance. That is how I see “Restore a model ship with a friend”.
