It means a suitable place, appropriate equipment and a pace within our abilities. It does not mean risk-free. Is there step-free access to the meeting point and somewhere to rest? I want clear answers, not a cheerful adjective.

I would enjoy talking about the attempts afterwards. I am not sure about joining the activity itself. This is why I am keeping the plan modest: I prefer daytime meetups close to home.

I would like room to change the arrangement after the first attempt. I want to keep “Practise gentle skating with friends” manageable for the people involved. That is a useful distinction. A conversation afterwards can be its own invitation, without requiring someone to take part in everything.

I would also like to plan an affordable away-day with friends. For me, I prefer daytime meetups close to home.

I'd like friends to join me at a suitable quiet flat place for beginner skating, with appropriate protective gear and an option to sit or walk instead. No coaching contract, no performance target. Can we simply spend an hour together?

I keep thinking about your plan to practise gentle skating with friends. Would a brief first attempt tell you more than another round of planning?

The part I want to try is already in “Practise gentle skating with friends”. I would rather make room for that than collect more ideas I cannot fit into the day.

Joana Ribeiro, I like that this stayed small. My temptation would be to add three more things before starting. I would also like to plan an affordable away-day with friends.

For this wish, Gary Ham: I would keep the extra ideas somewhere separate. One manageable attempt gives the bigger ideas something to learn from.
