Draw cactus characters with another family

Marisol Vega

I'd love an afternoon with my child and another family drawing cacti with exaggerated personalities. We can use photographs and pencils we have, without collecting plants. Which one is the neighbour who knows everyone's news? I suspect the tall one.

Could children invent cactus characters without knowing much about plants?

Yes. We can say which parts are invented and leave the plants alone. Would drawing from a picture make the table easier to share? Everyone can choose a character without touching anything prickly.

I might just watch the first time. I do not want an invitation that turns into pressure once I arrive. This is why I am keeping the plan modest: I cannot commit to every week.

I want to give it a try without pretending the concerns have vanished. I want to keep “Draw cactus characters with another family” manageable for the people involved. Then watching needs to remain an option throughout. I should make the invitation match that, rather than say it only to get someone through the door.

Marisol Vega, I would also like to cook a family recipe with someone who knows it. I have tried making a little space for pastry; the difficult part was keeping the session small enough to repeat.

With pastry, I tend to notice how much preparation sits behind the nice result. What would you leave out here? That is how I see “Draw cactus characters with another family”.

The part I want to try is already in “Draw cactus characters with another family”. I would rather make room for that than collect more ideas I cannot fit into the day.

Marisol Vega, I would join the conversation again when the practical details are clearer. No promises beyond that yet. I would also like to cook a family recipe with someone who knows it.

On “Draw cactus characters with another family”, that is enough. I can come back with a clearer arrangement and let people decide then, rather than treat interest as attendance.
