Share a tomato-growing afternoon

Denise Walker

I'd like a neighbour and my grandson to help tend my borrowed garden patch, with the owner's okay, then share a vegan snack. One small job each and time to sit. I'm growing tomatoes, not a second shift.

Tomatoes take more than one afternoon. What's the actual wish here?

One afternoon to get started together, not a promise of a harvest. We'll agree who looks after what afterwards. The tomatoes aren't obliged to reward a good social plan.

I am interested in the company, less in producing a polished result. Would that fit? This is why I am keeping the plan modest: I am rebuilding confidence after a long break. That is how I see “Share a tomato-growing afternoon”.

I can leave that question open until the practical details are clearer. I want to keep “Share a tomato-growing afternoon” manageable for the people involved. It would fit the small version I have in mind. We can enjoy making an attempt without promising a polished outcome.

I would also like to help organise a small fundraiser with clear accounts. For me, I am rebuilding confidence after a long break. That is how I see “Share a tomato-growing afternoon”.

Denise Walker, I am interested in trying rescue fundraising at a manageable scale. Would you prefer a practical suggestion or just some encouragement today?

For this attempt at “Share a tomato-growing afternoon”, honest encouragement would help. Practical suggestions are welcome too, provided we leave room to decide against them.

For this wish, Denise Walker: Please leave room for someone to have a less positive experience too. I would also like to help organise a small fundraiser with clear accounts.

On “Share a tomato-growing afternoon”, I would want to hear that without defending every choice. People can share an afternoon and come away wanting different things.
