Only if they want to. Could listening be enough for someone on the first evening? I would love the stories, but a favourite song does not come with an obligation to share its private history.

Priya Sandhu, if there is a way to join a small version, I would be interested. What would you need to know first? I need to allow for this: I usually have more time in the morning.

I can work with that distinction. I want to keep “Share an evening of old film songs” manageable for the people involved. We would need to agree the practical details and whether it suits both of us. Interest here is not a booking or an obligation.

I would also like to join a small song circle as a listener first. I have tried making a little space for folk songs; the difficult part was keeping the session small enough to repeat.

I'd love two friends to come over for a little harmonium music and a simple shared meal. We can each bring one song memory if we wish. I will keep one hour free of advice and problem-solving; please help me protect it.

For this wish, Priya Sandhu: I would welcome a useful beginner resource. Is there something comparably small that another person could offer you?

“Share an evening of old film songs” is the starting point, not a promise of a perfect result. I would ask what would make one attempt possible and listen to the answer.

For this wish, Priya Sandhu: What would make you change the first version after hearing all this? For my own plan, I usually have more time in the morning.

On “Share an evening of old film songs”, I would change whatever makes joining harder without adding much to the experience. The main wish can stay; the arrangement does not have to be fixed.
