Paula Rasmussen, yes, if we enjoyed the time and learnt what to change. I would not pretend a poor result was excellent, though. I need to allow for this: I prefer daytime meetups close to home.

On “Find a workable first step for paper engineering”, I like the idea, but I cannot promise to turn up. Can I stay in the conversation without saying yes? I cannot ignore the fact that I keep a small monthly hobby budget.

That gives me something concrete to consider. With paper engineering, I am keen to learn with others. Yes. Staying curious is enough for now. I would rather have an honest maybe than a yes that makes someone uncomfortable.

I would also like to learn why a drinking straw looks bent in water. For me, I keep a small monthly hobby budget.

That gives us two related aims to compare. I would like to make a cardboard camera obscura without looking at the sun. I prefer daytime meetups close to home.

Would you want me to bring suggestions from science demonstrations, or would that pull your plan in the wrong direction?

I would keep “Find a workable first step for paper engineering” as one small invitation. A different version of a related wish could teach us something without either of us copying the other's whole plan.

Could the next update include the awkward bits as well as what went well? I would also like to learn why a drinking straw looks bent in water.

Paula Rasmussen, yes. I want to keep track of what was workable, what took more effort than expected and what I would leave out next time. The help I would value is a useful beginner resource.
