For this wish, Gerwin Werner: Neither would I. I want a clear finish for the first attempt, with a separate decision about doing more. This is why I am keeping the plan modest: I keep a small monthly hobby budget.

A finish time changes it for me. Enthusiasm is easier when I know I can leave. I would enjoy talking about the attempts afterwards. I am not sure about joining the activity itself.

That is useful feedback, even if we would choose differently. With coastal walks, I am comfortable with the basics. That is a useful distinction. A conversation afterwards can be its own invitation, without requiring someone to take part in everything.

On “Learn to photograph plants without disturbing them”, I would also like to learn to photograph plants without disturbing them. I have tried making a little space for coastal walks; the difficult part was keeping the session small enough to repeat.

That gives us two related aims to compare. I would like to learn to photograph plants without disturbing them. I cannot ignore the fact that I keep a small monthly hobby budget.

On “Learn to photograph plants without disturbing them”, could an Instagram picture show the unfinished attempt too, rather than only the tidy result?

On “Learn to photograph plants without disturbing them”, that is the version I would want to share, with permission from anyone involved. I would rather show what was useful than make the afternoon look flawless.

I like that this stayed small. My temptation would be to add three more things before starting. I would also like to learn to photograph plants without disturbing them. That is how I see “Learn to photograph plants without disturbing them”.

Gerwin Werner, I would keep the extra ideas somewhere separate. One manageable attempt gives the bigger ideas something to learn from. The help I would value is a patient birdwatching companion.
