That would be my first option. I want to check what is already available before turning a small wish into a shopping list. One thing I should say upfront: I keep a small monthly hobby budget.

I might just watch the first time. I do not want an invitation that turns into pressure once I arrive. The practical limit is that I am still finding my way around a new neighbourhood.

I do not need everyone to choose the same version. With urban walking, I am experienced but still curious. Then watching needs to remain an option throughout. I should make the invitation match that, rather than say it only to get someone through the door.

I would also like to find a shaded walking route close to home. For me, I am still finding my way around a new neighbourhood.

That gives us two related aims to compare. I would like to keep a simple seasonal nature notebook. I keep a small monthly hobby budget.

On “Find a workable first step for urban walking”, would you ask Reddit for ideas, or would you worry about advice arriving without any local context?

On “Find a workable first step for urban walking”, I would treat replies as leads to check, not instructions to trust automatically. Useful suggestions still need to fit the place, people and limits of the plan.

I would join the conversation again when the practical details are clearer. No promises beyond that yet. I would also like to find a shaded walking route close to home.

On “Find a workable first step for urban walking”, that is enough. I can come back with a clearer arrangement and let people decide then, rather than treat interest as attendance. The help I would value is someone who enjoys stopping to look closely.
