Start a friendly football discussion evening

Torben Carlsen

I am returning after a break with local football. I would like this to fit everyday life: I need step-free venues for in-person plans. I would welcome someone who enjoys friendly debate.

I would bring a learner's view of local football. I am interested, but I would not sign up for something open-ended.

Neither would I. I want a clear finish for the first attempt, with a separate decision about doing more. I cannot ignore the fact that I need step-free venues for in-person plans.

Could someone join for only the first part? I would not want to disrupt the plan by leaving early. My plan has to fit this: I work some weekends. That is how I see “Start a friendly football discussion evening”.

I hear the reservation. I am not asking you to commit just by replying. With local football, I am returning after a break. I would plan a natural stopping point and say clearly which parts depend on everybody staying. Leaving should not become a personal explanation.

I would also like to learn more about my local club’s history. For me, I work some weekends.

That gives us two related aims to compare. I would like to start a friendly football discussion evening. The practical limit is that I need step-free venues for in-person plans.

Would you put this on LinkedIn, or would that make a small personal wish feel like a work achievement? That is how I see “Start a friendly football discussion evening”.

On “Start a friendly football discussion evening”, I would share a useful lesson there only if I wanted that audience. I do not want every pleasant activity to become evidence of professional productivity.

Torben Carlsen, I would try a smaller version of my own first. Then we would have something concrete to compare. I would also like to learn more about my local club’s history.

For this wish, Mette de Pauw: That seems a sensible way to continue. We can compare actual attempts later without turning this conversation into a promise that either of us has already finished. The help I would value is someone who enjoys friendly debate.
