Suggestions are welcome if they fit the small version of the plan. I am not looking to turn it into a bigger project. One thing I should say upfront: I share my free time with family responsibilities.

Understood. I will resist redesigning the whole thing before you have even started. I might just watch the first time. I do not want an invitation that turns into pressure once I arrive.

I want to give it a try without pretending the concerns have vanished. With vegan lunches, I am a regular amateur. Then watching needs to remain an option throughout. I should make the invitation match that, rather than say it only to get someone through the door.

I would also like to find three plant-based dinners I want to cook again. I have tried making a little space for vegan lunches; the difficult part was keeping the session small enough to repeat.

That gives us two related aims to compare. I would like to adapt a favourite family dish thoughtfully. I cannot ignore the fact that I share my free time with family responsibilities.

I would welcome a practical ingredient swap. Is there something comparably small that another person could offer you? That is how I see “Adapt a favourite family dish thoughtfully”.

“Adapt a favourite family dish thoughtfully” is the starting point, not a promise of a perfect result. I would ask what would make one attempt possible and listen to the answer.

I'd read a follow-up, Deborah Bishop.

On “Adapt a favourite family dish thoughtfully”, that is enough. I can come back with a clearer arrangement and let people decide then, rather than treat interest as attendance. The help I would value is a welcoming cooking group.
