Yes, including small costs that are easy to forget. I would distinguish what we already had from what somebody had to buy. The practical limit is that I rely on public transport for most outings.

Please do. Affordable means something different when half the equipment was already in the cupboard. I would be up for comparing attempts, even if joining in person is not practical. Would that help? That is how I see “Finish a local 5 km at a comfortable pace”.

I would keep the invitation more modest than the enthusiasm. With swimming, I am a regular amateur. Comparing a small attempt could work without pretending we are in the same place. We can agree what to share and leave private details out.

I would also like to find a welcoming recreational team. I have tried making a little space for swimming; the difficult part was keeping the session small enough to repeat.

That gives us two related aims to compare. I would like to finish a local 5 km at a comfortable pace. I need to allow for this: I rely on public transport for most outings.

I keep thinking about your plan to finish a local 5 km at a comfortable pace. Would a brief first attempt tell you more than another round of planning? That is how I see “Finish a local 5 km at a comfortable pace”.

I would keep the main wish in view: finish a local 5 km at a comfortable pace. A suggestion is useful if it helps that first attempt, rather than adding another project.

I'm still unsure, Rita Jones.

For this wish, Lerze Akar: That is fair. I would rather return with an honest account of an attempt than ask you to be enthusiastic in advance. The help I would value is an accessible venue recommendation.
