Find a workable first step for snowboarding

Jemma Coleman

The ambition is to learn basic skateboard balance in a permitted practice area. I need to plan around this: I share my free time with family responsibilities.

I am trying to make room for snowboarding. It sounds pleasant, but not particularly original.

I am not aiming for originality. I would like an ordinary activity to fit into my life and include some company. The practical limit is that I share my free time with family responsibilities.

Fair. I suppose a wish does not have to impress strangers to be worth doing. I would be up for comparing attempts, even if joining in person is not practical. Would that help?

I would keep the invitation more modest than the enthusiasm. With snowboarding, I am keen to learn with others. Comparing a small attempt could work without pretending we are in the same place. We can agree what to share and leave private details out.

I would also like to find a beginner-friendly mountain bike skills course. I have tried making a little space for snowboarding; the difficult part was keeping the session small enough to repeat.

That gives us two related aims to compare. I would like to learn basic skateboard balance in a permitted practice area. I cannot ignore the fact that I share my free time with family responsibilities.

Would you want me to bring suggestions from snowboarding, or would that pull your plan in the wrong direction?

I do not think “Find a workable first step for snowboarding” needs to grow before it is worth trying. I would welcome a small practical suggestion and keep the extra possibilities for later.

I am still not completely convinced, but I would read a follow-up after you try it. I would also like to find a beginner-friendly mountain bike skills course.

That is fair. I would rather return with an honest account of an attempt than ask you to be enthusiastic in advance. The help I would value is company for a supervised first session. That is how I see “Find a workable first step for snowboarding”.
