I should ask about requirements before shopping and be clear about what I can provide. Guessing is not hospitality. One thing I should say upfront: I prefer borrowing equipment before buying it.

That question before the shopping would save a lot of awkwardness at the table. I might just watch the first time. I do not want an invitation that turns into pressure once I arrive.

I want to give it a try without pretending the concerns have vanished. With street-food photography, I am comfortable with the basics. Then watching needs to remain an option throughout. I should make the invitation match that, rather than say it only to get someone through the door.

I would also like to learn to use a seasonal ingredient. I have tried making a little space for street-food photography; the difficult part was keeping the session small enough to repeat.

That gives us two related aims to compare. I would like to host a small meal that suits everyone’s dietary needs. The practical limit is that I prefer borrowing equipment before buying it.

For street-food photography, I would rather agree a small beginning than promise a long programme. Would that approach suit this wish?

On “Host a small meal that suits everyone’s dietary needs”, for this attempt at “Host a small meal that suits everyone’s dietary needs”, honest encouragement would help. Practical suggestions are welcome too, provided we leave room to decide against them.

I'd try that, George Khosla.

For this wish, Brianna Green: That is enough. I can come back with a clearer arrangement and let people decide then, rather than treat interest as attendance. The help I would value is someone interested in swapping family recipes.
